Petrobras posts record oil demand jump

19/01/2011
Brazilian state oil company, Petrobras, has announced that its gasoline and jet fuel sales jumped by 17.8 per cent in 2010, owing to the country's increasingly demanding economic expansion.

The company said they were expecting the demand to remain high for the foreseeable future, as the country's light vehicle fleet continued to expand.

The company said they were also seeing more and more people switch back to petroleum powered cars, as the increasing price of sugarcane ethanol turned people away from the hitherto popular "flex-fuel" cars, which can run on ethanol and gasoline.
