Area of forest in Brazil grows, according to report

The area of planted forests in Brazil increased by more than 200,000 hectares in 2008 and 2009, according to a recently published report from the South American nation's Forest Service.
The Forests of Brazil in Brief 2010 report showed that the country currently had 509 million hectares of natural forests and 6.8 million hectares of planted forests.
The report, copies of which can be obtained through the Forest Service, addresses issues including characteristics of the six separate biomes, advances in forest management and socioeconomic issues in forest areas.
